About This Project

Calais, France. nov.2014

They come from different places, Afghanistan, Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia.

All of them are headed to England, dreaming of leaving Europe, that could not provide any more reason for living. These people are now in Calais, stacked from the english and french police, on the order to increase the controls. It’s an “invisible wall” that forbade them to hide on the trucks headed to the UK. I asked their names and age and i asked them to draw on the Mediterranean map their trip that led here. Not only they have common destination, but they share the same sacrifice for reaching it. They are escaping from war zones with the aim of a normal life. I decided to overlap the line drew by them to their portrait, that line on their photo that represents the permanent scar that they will carry on their faces.
